Our Revolutionary War Veterans of Pine Grove, PA and Beyond

In my last post, I had the great fortune to be able to reconnect my late cousin’s daughter, Shana Boos with Shana’s aunts. Since then, I’ve been providing Shana with our family history and family trees. With it being the 4th of July, I decided to make Shana a chart of some of our Revolutionary War veteran ancestors that hailed from Pine Grove, in Schuylkill County, Berks County, Dauphin County and Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. That gave me the idea for this post. Here are the veterans information I shared with Shana:

Lt. Bernhardt Zimmerman (1743-1818) – born in Rerhersburg, Lancaster Co., PA and died in Pine Grove, Schuylkill Co., PA – here is a detailed history of Bernhardt Zimmerman hosted by Berger Girls.

Pvt. George Adam Zerbe (1753-1828) – born in  Heidelberg Township, Berks County, PA and died in Pine Grove, Schuylkill Co., PA – here is a detailed history of George Adam Zerbe by Google EBooks – Blue Book of Schuylkill County by Ella Zerbey Elliot – 1916

Pvt. Asahel “Assumuss” Boyer (1734-1807) – born in Tulpehocken Twp., Berks Co., PA and died in Pine Grove, Schuylkill Co., PA – here is a detailed history of Asahel “Assumus” Boyer hosted by Archive.org – American Boyers by Charles C. Boyer, revised by Melvin James Boyer – 1940 – there is a conflict of when Assumus Boyer actually died, as the details indicate he died in the line of duty and other records indicate he died in 1807

2nd LT. Daniel Hoffman (1748-1833) – born in Tulpehocken Twp., Berks Co., PA and died in Rehrersburg, Berks Co., PA – I couldn’t find a detailed history for Daniel Hoffman but came across this article in the Daily News, Lebanon, PA – I have read in some places that Daniel Hoffman was involved with the founding of Rehresburg, PA

Joel Ferree (1731-1801) – born in Lancaster Co., PA and died in Pittsburgh, PA – Here is a detailed history of Joel Ferree – Joel Ferree was a gunsmith who supplied arms, ammunition and gunpowder to the PA troops by appointment of the PA Safety Council chaired by Benjamin Frankin – hosted by the Ferree Reunion website

I know we all have veterans from the war for our county’s independence, and I wanted to present a small portion of the men my family are related to. I hope I may hear from others that are related to these, our veteran ancestors. I also hope to hear from those others that have veteran ancestors who fought along side mine.

Happy 4th of July!
